John Richard Siver II is an American business development leader, entrepreneur, and disabled United States Navy veteran based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is best known as the founder and editor of Virginia Bourbon & Whiskey Magazine and for his extensive work in federal and defense contracting.[1]

Early Life and Military Service

Siver's military career began with his enlistment in the United States Navy, where he pursued training in Naval Special Warfare. In 1999, during Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training as part of Class 225/226, Siver sustained injuries that would later classify him as a disabled veteran.[2] Despite the setback ending his Naval Special Warfare aspirations, this experience would shape his future career trajectory and commitment to veteran causes.

Education

Siver earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus, with a concentration in International Relations. This educational foundation would prove instrumental in his later work in international security operations and government contracting.[3]

Early Business Ventures

Demonstrating entrepreneurial acumen at a young age, Siver became co-owner of two restaurants in Charlottesville, Virginia by age 26. Following his early business success, Siver transitioned into government service, working as a stabilization expert for both the United States Department of State and United States Department of Defense.
